Temecula Quilt Co. Finish!

Image
The last of the instructions for the Temecula's free quilt pattern was up this morning!  I did catch up on the last two blocks and was surprised we only needed the eight blocks for a setting. These are my last two blocks. So when we got the setting directions today, I hurried up to put it together. Kinda cute! I then added some flannel applique to it. Now all I need to do is stitch it so that I can quilt it. I also have another small quilt that I finished piecing and added wool felt to it also. I believe it is called chinese coins or stacked coins. This also needs the stitching done around before I can layer and put together. This quilt is only 12 1/2 x 14. Might even put a few beads on it too! I had better get started on those Pam Buda blocks that also came this morning on her blog. See ya later! Shez have a fun time at THE PATCHWORK PLACE  tomorrow, wish I could be there to meet you.   Martha

My First

Image
Yes we all have firsts and this will be my first and it might be my last. I do it for love, for my grandson and for quilting and the learning curve. What am I talking about ,you say? Why , my first tee shirt quilt! So far these are the pieces that I have to work with. I am going to put some plain , empty, no word pieces in so that people can put thier signature on it with a marker and add to the keepsake and memory quilt. I also have two yards of this fabric to mix it with. I am going shopping for 3-4 blues to go with these also. My friend Mary Ann found some pics of tee-shirt quilts to give me some ideas .  So I am off on another fabric shopping spree, someone has to do it! martha

Got  caught up on the latest Pam Buda  block of the week and thought I would show you my blocks. Maybe you will catch some inspiration and decide to start them yourself! Heartspun Quilts is the name of her blog. And I also got the binding sewn down on my redwork "Snow Happens" by Bird Brain Designs Hope you find something to keep your hands busy and your heart pumping!  Martha

Being frugal?

Image
I have pieced my back with left-overs from the blocks and sashing and borders . Now all I  need to do is press it now, before it goes to quilter. The smaller pieces are ones that I just did not want to throw away; they are scraps   from the front.    Thought this was best .  NO guilt! I also finished some redwork, and yes it does look familiar. I did it before in blue. I did do the outside borders differently. I will hand sew down the binding tonight while watching tv.  All for now, Martha

Remembrance

Worked today on my Remembrance quilt by Carol Hopkins.I got two rows put together out of the five. I do have another row ready to be added to other two, but had to do a few other things today also. I have my last Temecula Quilt  Co. block done also. There were some pics that I did not post concerning The Wizard of Oz . This is the carridge that took scarecrow, tin man, lion and Dorothy to get cleaned up and presentable for the Wizard. It was also owned ,  at one time by President Abe Lincoln. That's the tin man, oh! I mean my hubby who took me shop hopping! The real ruby slippers were stolen a few years back and never found, at least as yet. There were actually three pair used in the film ; one in the Smithsoneum Museum and one in a private collection.  Somewhere out there a stolen pair!  Chatter at you later, Martha.

Coming To an End

Image
This year's Minnesota shop hop is coming to an end this Sunday. Woo Hoo!!  I have put together my buck block quilt with it's borders.  As you can see here. I went to my Kansas Troubles class today, where we also are doing Sherri Falls Mystery Block of the Month this year. Our leader Brenda Peterson showed her  quilt from the pattern  we recieved today. Sharon Lindner shared three quilts from  her Ladies of the Lake quilting group. They were made from scraps and are being donated to several surrounding churches. I hope you have enjoyed viewing these and hopefully things will be getting back to normal now. Martha
